Aidence, a startup developing medical imaging diagnostic software based on deep learning, announces that it has received a Development Award from SBRI Healthcare.
SBRI Healthcare is an NHS England programme that provides funding to innovative companies to solve healthcare problems. Supported by Academic Health Science Networks (AHSNs), SBRI Healthcare’s main aim in 2018 is to support high potential cancer screening solutions. Aidence’s Veye Chest technology demonstrates the ability to transform screening and facilitate both earlier and faster diagnosis of cancer.
Aidence believes that its Veye Chest supports the radiologist improve quality and efficiency of reporting. Our vision is that our technology reduces the burden on radiologists and helps them safe valuable time.
Mark-Jan Harte, CEO - Aidence:
" We are very proud to have been selected for the SBRI. It gives Aidence the opportunity to show the value of its AI solution in improving cancer care. Enabling cost-effective lung cancer screening is a key goal for Aidence, and this grant brings this goal an important step closer. "
Aidence partners with NHS Lothian and researchers of the University of Edinburgh to validate quantification features like automated volume measurement. We welcome the collaboration with the NHS Lothian and University of Edinburgh, it fits our approach that we want our reliability independently proven by scientific research. This study started in February and the preliminary results are expected in June this year.
Professor John Murchison - NHS Lothian:
" We are looking forward to collaborating with Aidence on this important advance in making lung cancer screening more cost effective. I believe that Artificial Intelligence will have a significant and positive impact on how radiology services will evolve and we look forward in Edinburgh to being at the forefront of this development. "
